Head of MGM Resorts to attend state dinner for Chinese President

The list of people attending tonight’s state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao is long, but I scrolled down to see if any Las Vegans were going and hit the jackpot with Jim and Heather Murren.

But I noticed they weren’t identified. Most of the guests had some identifying description, like their business or title.

Jim and Heather were, well, just Jim and Heather Murren of Las Vegas.

Was someone on President Barack Obama’s staff hesitant to point out that he’s the head of MGM Resorts International, the company making buckets of money in Macau?

No one would be ashamed to point out that Heather Murren is on the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, a perfectly respectable commission.

Of course, maybe the listmaker just assumed they were well known. After all Ms. Barbra Streisand of Malibu, CA didn’t have a profession listed either.
