Police detain man in North Las Vegas homicide

A man has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found Sunday on a city street, North Las Vegas police said.

Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said Timothy Oliver, 18, of North Las Vegas was detained Sunday evening.

Bedwell said investigators were called about 5 p.m. to the 2400 block of Lexington Street, near Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, because shots had been heard.

The body was found in the street.

Clark County coroner’s officials on Monday identified the victim as Ronnie Gibson Jr., 39, of North Las Vegas.

Authorities haven’t released the cause and manner of Gibson’s death.
