Stanhope standing up
March 18, 2011 - 1:04 am
Doug Stanhope is making a quick return by off-Strip standards, having already done his stand-up in Henderson last August.
But fans of the comedian know they won’t be hearing the same routines rehashed. Stanhope is free-form, sometimes even meandering, but never repeats the material from his recordings.
One thing you know is that it will be dark but thoughtful. “I just have to keep myself in check,” he noted last time of comedy’s tendency to focus on things we hate, not things that make us happy.
“I’ve had to really toy with that balance with being angry onstage without being angry in life.”
Tickets are $26-$37 for the 8:30 p.m. Saturday show at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road; call 547-5300.
