21-year-old man pleads guilty in shooting outside drugstore

A 21-year-old man charged with the 2009 Thanksgiving Day fatal shooting outside a northwest valley CVS Pharmacy pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder for shooting McClain Kenton Zornes, 19, to death.

Authorities said two men were parked side by side when Lionel Collins III, who was in a beat-up orange car, shot Zornes, who was in a purple sedan.

Zornes drove his car into a palm tree, and the vehicle flipped over, near Tenaya Way and Craig Road. Zornes suffered a single fatal gunshot wound in his chest.

The shooting was linked to a drug deal gone bad, Las Vegas police said.

Collins is scheduled to be sentenced by District Judge Donald Mosley on April 6.
