Gasoline prices up nearly 50 cents in a month

Las Vegas gasoline prices have risen 8 cents in a week and 49.5 cents in a month, AAA said Monday in its Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
AAA said the average price of a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline was $3.65 on Monday, up 2.3 percent from $3.567 a week ago and up 15.7 percent from $3.156 a month ago.
The current price is up 31 percent from $2.787 a gallon a year ago.
As high as the average Las Vegas price is now, it’s still 15 percent below the record price of $4.279 a gallon recorded June 21, 2008.
The current Las Vegas gasoline price is slightly below the average statewide price of $3.685 a gallon, AAA said.
Hawaii had the nation’s highest average price at $4.001 a gallon. California ($3.959), Alaska ($3.902), New York and Connecticut (both $3.749), the District of Columbia ($3.677) and Washington ($3.657) also ranked ahead of Nevada in per-gallon prices, AAA said.
The current national average price is $3.558 a gallon, AAA said.
