Former Nevada gaming regulator joins law firm

Former Gaming Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander has joined the statewide law firm Kaempfer Crowell as of counsel.

Neilander, who left the control board in December when his term expired, will assist with legislative and administrative law matters.

Neilander had been chairman of the control board since 2001 after serving nearly three years as a member of the three-person regulatory panel.

Neilander, a Denver native, moved to Carson City in 1990 to work as an attorney for the Legislative Counsel Bureau. He joined the control board in 1995 as the corporate securities chief.

He was appointed by three different Nevada governors from both political parties to his control board positions.

Current Nevada Gaming Commission Chairman Peter Bernhard also is listed as of counsel with Kaempfer Crowell, which has offices in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City.
