Woman dead after being hit by vehicle in west valley

A 72-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a pickup in the west valley, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the woman was not released.

Police spokesman Jacinto Rivera said the incident occurred at 3:49 p.m. at 1601 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Charleston Boulevard.

Police said Geoffrey Kassarjian, 35, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram and was exiting a parking lot to go south on Rainbow. The woman was walking north, on the west side of Rainbow, south of the pickup, police said. As the pickup pulled into the road, the woman also entered the road in front of the pickup and was struck. She died at the scene.
