Hello Golden Nugget, goodbye Trump for Boardwalk hotel

ATLANTIC CITY — Donald Trump’s name no longer beckons gamblers to one New Jersey casino.

On the day the business mogul announced he would not run for president, workers on Monday removed his name from Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.

Landry’s Inc., which owns the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas, is buying the property for $38 million and will rename it Golden Nugget. The name was used on another Atlantic City casino from 1980 to 1987.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the New Jersey Casino Control Commission is set to approve the sale next Monday.

Trump’s name will remain on Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.
