TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
1 Silent Sue – The rail is a big advantage in these abbreviated sprints; Rafael Bejarano gets the call.
2 Killer Graces – FTS has been working fast over his home track in Inglewood; price with low-percentage connections.
Long Shot – 3 Free and Able
Race 2 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $38,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Russian River – Exits a sharp sprint win over synthetics; returns quick, but can sit a nice stalking trip.
1 Lisa Lulu – Speed and the rail are simple tactics for this filly; she’ll go as fast and as far as she can.
Long Shot – 5 So Nice
Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
9 Rachels Moon – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; needs the race to fall apart.
2 Preferred Behavior – Has the most experience around 2 turns; shown tactical speed to relax off of the pace.
Long Shot – 7 Clocker Moment
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Achak – His career wins a split between synthetics and turf; he’s won long and short too so distance is no problem.
2 Job Boss – His synthetic resume is much stronger than his turf resume; tactical speed to sit a good trip.
Long Shot – 1 Big Wags
Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Cahill Country – Sliding down the claiming ladder to where he should compete; like the turn back in distance too.
7 Rainbow Goose – Tepid chalk has not started in 15 months; has a ton of back class, key will be his fitness.
Long Shot – 4 Willyconker
Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Jaredella – Closed well in last when second best; she’s improving with each start, maybe enough to graduate tonight.
1 Heidi Maria – Possible speed from the rail; she is turning back in distance so stamina should not be an issue.
Long Shot – 3 Pink Lemonade
Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $55,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Saanneen – She is developing into a grass sprint specialist; the inside post is a big edge here at Hollywood.
6 Sugarinthemorning – Sharp debut turf win last time down the hill at Santa Anita; we’ll see if turf is her calling here.
Long Shot – 4 Camille C
Race 8 – 5 furlongs, $70,000 Time to Leave, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Saint Isabelle – Was superb in victory off a 5-month hiatus; the key is if she can repeat or will she bounce to the moon.
3 Separate Forest – She has carved out some nice turf wins; her dirt resume is pretty good, enough for favoritism.
Long Shot – 1 Irish Gypsy
Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
9 Our Bellini Bikini – Been first or second in 5-of-6 dirt starts; that model of consistency may be enough tonight.
4 Forty Dates – Has cashed four paychecks in a row, a big deal with these; tactical speed to be involved early.
Long Shot – 5 Banana Cream Pie
Best Bet – 2 Russian River (race 2)
Hollywood Park Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/5/$33.20; Long Shots, 9/2/$16.20; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – 9 Breathless Storm (3/1) in race 9 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Indiano ran out at Churchill Downs. Stats – 72/47/$366.40
