Woman dies in North Las Vegas accident

A 32-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed in a North Las Vegas accident on Friday.

North Las Vegas police said the two-vehicle collision happened about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Carey Avenue and Losee Road. The woman, who was not identified, drove her 2000 Nissan Altima through a red light at the intersection and into the path of a 2011 Dodge Durango, they said.

The Durango struck the driver’s side of the Altima, killing the woman and sending the vehicle crashing into a power box and a chain-link fence before coming to a stop, police said.

The driver of the Durango, a 52-year-old Grand Junction, Colo., resident, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police said the woman was at fault in the accident. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.

The incident was the fourth fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.
