Las Vegas man, 24, dies in early-morning crash

An early Sunday morning car crash near Mountain Vista Street and Flamingo Road killed a 24-year-old man and critically injured a passenger, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased Las Vegas man was not released by authorities.

Police said at 4:56 a.m. the 24-year-old man was driving a 1998 Saturn north on Mountain Vista at a high rate of speed. When he crossed Flamingo, he lost control, spun and struck a wooden pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A man who was not carrying identification was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
