Las Vegas man, 18, killed in eastside crash

An 18-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Saturday morning in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Desert Inn Road east of the Pecos-McLeod Interconnect, according to Las Vegas police.

Brandon Williams, also 18 and a passenger in a 2004 Pontiac Aztek, was hospitalized with serious injuries following the wreck just after 6 a.m. Saturday.

The driver of the 2007 Freightliner, Jeffery Leliefeld, 48, suffered minor injuries.

According to police, Leliefeld, a Dominos Pizza employee, was going east and the Las Vegas man, who was not identified pending notification of family, was heading west on Desert Inn Road when the Pontiac for unknown reasons went off the south side of the road, hit a wall with enough force to eject the driver and returned to the road, where it was struck in the rear by the truck.

The Las Vegas man was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatality was the 23rd in Clark County this year.

Williams was transported to Sunrise Hospital’s trauma unit while Leliefeld was taken to the emergency room.
