Bill to allow high schoolers to fail some parts of exams sent to Sandoval

CARSON CITY — A bill that would allow some high school students to receive diplomas even if they failed part of the high school proficiency exam was approved by the state Senate and sent to Gov. Brian Sandoval on Wednesday.

The Senate voted 13-8 in favor of Assembly Bill 456.

Sens. Dean Rhoads, R-Tuscarora, and Joe Hardy, R-Boulder City, joined all 11 Democrats voting for the bill.

There was no discussion.

It wasn’t known if Sandoval plans to sign the bill.
