Religion Notes

Easter

The Sonrise Singers of Sunrise Baptist Church, 1780 Betty Lane, will present the Easter musical “Eyes of Faith” at 6 p.m. today and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Admission is free (452-8599).

All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave., will have Holy Saturday services at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. today. Easter services will be at 8 and 10 a.m., 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday (878-2373).

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 101 S. Rancho Drive, will have an Easter sunrise service at 5:45 a.m. Sunday on the Miracle League Ball Field on the east side of the church property. Gates open at 5:30 a.m. The service will be followed by a pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt. A celebration of the Resurrection service will be offered at 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary (384-1544).

South Hills Church Community, 9220 Manhattan Road, Henderson, will have Easter services at 6, 8:30, 10 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday (616-6700).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will celebrate Easter with a courtyard sunrise Communion service at 7 a.m. Sunday, followed by a continental breakfast at 8. There also will be a Communion service at 9:30 a.m. (732-2052).

Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will have Easter services at 7:45 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday, with Spanish services at 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. An Easter egg hunt will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the courtyard (735-7655).

Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 Cathedral Way, will have Easter services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m., and 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Sunday (735-5241).

Henderson Presbyterian Church, 601 N. Major Ave., will have Easter services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday (565-9684).

New Hope Las Vegas Christian Fellowship, 3630 N. Rancho Drive, will offer Easter services at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday (487-8439).

The Church at South Las Vegas will have an Easter service with the Rev. Benny Perez at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Thomas & Mack Center, Tropicana Avenue and Swenson Street. The church and Three Square Food Bank also will have a canned food drive. Each person who donates 10 cans of food will be entered into drawings for prizes. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Children will receive a free gift bag of Easter eggs, candy and an activity book (361-1579).

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will present opera singer Madelene Capelle in concert at 3 p.m. May 1. Admission is free, but goodwill offerings will be accepted (341-7800).

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 101 S. Rancho Drive, will present a Gospel–Praise–Spiritual concert featuring the 40-voice Sanctuary Choir, the Children’s Young Bell Choir, the Chalice Ringers Adult Hand Bell Choir, the men’s quartet First Love and others, at 4 p.m. May 1. A goodwill offering will be accepted. A nursery will be provided, and refreshments will follow the concert (384-1544).

EVENTS

Valley Outreach Synagogue — P’nai Tikvah and the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada will present a screening of the animated film “The Prince of Egypt” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish Community Center, 9001 Hillpointe Road. Admission is free (436-4900 or 794-0090).

The Women of Faith 2011 “Over the Top” tour will be presented at 10 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. April 30 at Thomas & Mack Center, Tropicana Avenue and Swenson Street. The event will feature music artists, authors and performers. Tickets are $99 per person, and $89 per person in groups of 10 or more (888-493-2484).

MEETINGS

The Las Vegas Lay Dominicans will have their monthly meeting featuring prayer, formation activities and a Communion service, 10 a.m.-noon April 30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Community, 4765 Brussels St.

The Sathya Sai Baba Devotional Singing Group meets at 5 p.m. Sundays at 1128 Triumph Court (461-8655).

Singles groups

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, Temple Sinai and Congregation Ner Tamid offer a variety of programs for Jewish singles of all ages in Las Vegas and Henderson. For details, call the Jewish Community Center at 794-0090, Temple Sinai at 254-5110 or Congregation Ner Tamid at 733-6292.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church has a singles luncheon for ages 60 and older the first Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at Black Mountain Grill, 11021 S. Eastern Ave., Henderson (796-1953).

New Life Christian Center has a singles meeting at 7 p.m. the second Friday of the month at 1229 E. Carson Ave. (387-5433).

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church sponsors singles groups for professionals 25 to 45 years old and a singles group for people 45 and older (228-8311, Ext. 7333 or 7334).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
