Man killed in wreck in Lake Mead Recreation Area identified

A man killed in a roll-over wreck in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area that left eight others hospitalized last week was identified Monday.

Isnoel Herrera-Herrera, 27, of North Las Vegas was the driver in the Thursday night crash.

Eight other people, including six younger than 16, were hospitalized. Their conditions were not known Monday.

National Park Service spokesman Andrew Munoz said the crash occurred about 6:15 p.m. An SUV was speeding around a curve, the driver lost control, and the vehicle went onto the shoulder of the road and then down an embankment, where it rolled.

Munoz said the crash occurred on Northshore Road, near mile marker 43 between Echo Bay and Overton.

Speed and alcohol were factors contributing to the crash, Munoz said.
