Criminal charges pending against couple in baby’s death

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Criminal charges are pending against an Arizona couple after their 2-month-old baby died Sunday at Kingman Regional Medical Center, police said.

Kingman police responded at 8:30 a.m. after hospital officials notified authorities of the death of the infant, Capt. Rusty Cooper said.

The parents indicated their daughter was unresponsive when they awoke , Cooper said. An autopsy conducted Monday was inconclusive .

Officers conducting a follow-up investigation discovered deplorable conditions unsuitable for children at the couple’s home in the 2700 block of Chambers Avenue, Cooper said. A 3-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother were removed from the home.
