Bars ready to pour for new NFL season

Well, it was touch-and-go there for a while, pigskin fans. But NFL players and owners finally came to their senses, settled their differences and decided to let the 2011 season commence, sparing us the sight of at least a game or two with replacement players.

Seriously, did anything good come out of that 1987 strike other than a movie in which we actually liked Keanu Reeves? Didn’t think so.

Anyway, praise be the ghosts of Lombardi, Halas and Brown, the 2011 NFL season kicks off (we never tire of that pun) Thursday, and that mean it’s time to unveil our annual list of Southern Nevada bars, taverns and restaurants that cater to fans of specific NFL teams.

As always, we present this list for the benefit of rabid but displaced hometown fans who prefer to watch their teams play while surrounded only by fellow fans of their teams, creating the ambience of a day at the game or, at the very least, watching the game in your living room with some good buds.

Therefore, we don’t include sports bars, sports books or places where other games are shown while the hometown team’s game is on. If your favorite bar doesn’t appear here, it’s because the bar doesn’t fit our criteria as a team bar, because the bar’s owner or manager didn’t call us or didn’t call us by our deadline, or because the bar requires fans to fork out a membership fee to join a backers club before allowing them to partake of game day goodies.

So, we now present to you 52 NFL team bars (down, if you’re a stats freak, from last year’s record-setting 72). This year’s roster of teams without bars is made up of the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins.

Let the most wonderful time of the year commence.
