set for Aug. 29 through Sept. 11
Las Vegas Restaurant Week is scheduled to raise funds for Three Square food bank at restaurants across the valley Aug. 29 through Sept. 11.
In honor of the event’s fifth anniversary, this year’s Restaurant Week has been extended to two weeks. Participating restaurants will offer unique three-course menus for a fixed price. A portion of each will go to Three Square to help fight hunger in Southern Nevada.

McFadden’s to celebrate Christmas
in July with drink specials
McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon in the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road, plans to celebrate Christmas in July by offering cocktail specials and an open bar Saturday.
Patrons are invited to wear their best Christmas ensembles for the party. Anyone who wears a Christmas sweater, Santa costume or Santa’s helper outfit will receive a complimentary open bar for the evening. A holiday party happy hour is planned from 8 to 10 p.m. for $15, and the open bar continues from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for $20 for women and $30 for men. Local women can enjoy $1 cocktails from 10 p.m. to close.

Normal prices for full-size burgers range from $9.75 to $13.75.

Barbecue selections, featuring Tropical Smoothie Café’s zesty Hawaiian Luau BBQ sauce, are Beachside BBQ Sandwich with turkey, provolone, bacon, romaine and tomato on toasted ciabatta; Beachside BBQ Wrap with chicken, mozzarella, pineapple and red onions wrapped in a white tortilla; and Beachside BBQ Flatbread with chicken, cheddar, red onions and pickles on grilled flatbread.
Also new to the menu for summer is Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie with a blend of fresh strawberries and lemonade.

to teach class WEdnesday
Wine radio show host Les Kincaid plans to offer an Organic Wines class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Total Wine & More, 730 S. Rampart Blvd. in Boca Park. Explore organic wine terms such as biodynamic and sustainable, the agricultural practices behind the terms and look at techniques for vinification and how it translates into what you taste in the glass.

Hash House A Go Go coming to Plaza
The Plaza, 1 S. Main St., plans to welcome Hash House A Go Go’s fourth valley location.
The hotel-casino, which has undertaken an extensive renovation project, plans to open the restaurant by Sept. 1. It will be adjacent to the front entrance and will have seating for 185 guests.
Hours are scheduled to be 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Big Dog’s to host Summer Beer Fest
Saturday at draft house
Big Dog’s Brewery plans to host its Summer Beer Fest from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Draft House, 4543 N. Rancho Drive.
The event is set to feature 30-plus beers and include the tapping of the Big Dog’s Strawberry Wheat beer. Live reggae music by Kava Kreation also is planned, along with Caribbean-style sandwiches.

King’s Fish House announces wild Pacific salmon menu
King’s Fish House at The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2255 Village Walk Drive, Suite 139, is serving menu items with seasonal wild Pacific salmon through September.
The restaurant is serving three salmon species, Chinook “King,” Sockeye “Red” and Coho “Silver.” Items include wild salmon tataki roll with crispy salmon, daikon sprouts and poke sauce; wild salmon cakes with grain mustard, dill and lime glaze (appetizer portion also available), wild salmon summer salad with asparagus, tomatoes, bleu cheese and fennel in an orange-soy vinaigrette; hazelnut-crusted wild salmon with lemon butter sauce, Northwest vegetables and summer grains; cedar plank-roasted wild salmon, dry rubbed and cooked on a cedar plank and served with Northwest vegetables and summer grains; wild salmon Caesar salad; and charbroiled wild salmon with choice of two sidekicks.

Lakeside at Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering three new dining programs —- Oyster Happy Hour, Lobsterphoria and Late Night.
Oyster Happy Hour is daily from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the bar and lounge area. Patrons can enjoy different varieties of bi-valves for $1.50 each, accompanied by wine, beer, sangria and oyster shooters. There also will be baked oysters Rockefeller and po’ boy sliders.
Lobsterphoria offers wood- and oven-roasted lobsters from around the world prepared a number of ways —- stuffed with lobster and crabmeat, rubbed with red chili, roasted in garlic and spices or grilled with citrus-herb butter. Lobsterphoria is from 6 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Late Night offers a new three-course menu for $59 from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Appetizers selections include Maryland crab cakes with vegetable tartar sauce and braised meatballs and garlic bread. Entree selections include petit filet mignon with potato pave, wild mushrooms and Bordelaise, and chipotle-marinated swordfish with chorizo and Spanish salsa. For dessert, patrons can choose two selections from Sweet Cart Named Desire, a rolling trolley of desserts.

Evening Call plans to host its second annual National Daiquiri Day celebration today with $4 daiquiris and free extra shots of Bacardi, Jose Cuervo and Smirnoff with any frozen drink purchase all day at four participating locations.
Signature frozen drinks include passion berry with vodka, blended cappuccino with Irish cream, and frozen strawberry with banana rum.

El Segundo Sol plans cooking fiesta class
El Segundo Sol at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to offer a Cooking Fiesta cooking glass from 10 a.m. to noon July 30.
Chef Terry Lynch will show participants how to prepare sweet corn, zucchini blossom, red chile quesadilla, duck breast tacos with red pipian sauce and Baby Blue Margarita with Curacao and blue salt. Recipes for the white sangria with summer melon, grapes and Riesling also will be shared. Dessert will be coconut flan.
