Woman dies in traffic accident in east Las Vegas

A woman was killed in a collision Thursday morning on East Bonanza Road, west of Reef Drive, Las Vegas police said.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate that a 2000 Mazda Protege exited the driveway of a Food 4 Less and turned left onto Bonanza Road shortly after 7 a.m. The Mazda entered the middle lane, where it was struck on the left side by a 2007 Ford Econoline van.

The Mazda driver suffered critical injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where she died. Her identity has not been released.

The driver and occupants of the Ford suffered minor injuries and were taken to UMC.

Las Vegas police are investigating the crash. The incident was the year’s 34th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas police department’s jurisdiction.
