Woman arrested in fatal stabbing in northeast valley

A 21-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested Friday evening in connection with a fatal stabbing inside an residential complex in the northeast valley, police officials said.

Witnesses held Elizabeth Denise Crocketts until Las Vegas police officers arrived at about
7:20 p.m. She was later booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a murder with a deadly weapon charge. Officers allege that Crocketts stabbed a 22-year-old woman to death with a screwdriver during a fight in the 5000 block of Nellis Oasis Lane, near Nellis Boulevard and Gowan Road. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit where she died of her injuries.

The relationship between the two women is unclear and police said Saturday the investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone with information on the stabbing to call the homicide bureau at 828-3521; or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
