Horse Racing, Hollywood Park, 12/1/11
December 1, 2011 - 2:09 am
Today at Hollywood Park
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $32,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 Joy Boy – Brian Koriner has an uncoupled entry so he will be double tough; the other horse is #3 My T Quick.
6 Panther’s Claw – Taken by John Sadler out of a nice maiden claiming win; he figures to eyeball winners face to face.
Long Shot – 2 Gregor
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Ultimate Decision – Ron Ellis has an uncoupled entry; this looks like the logical horse, the other is #4 Duplo Rapido.
1 Street Titan – Ran well for second last out in Mike Mitchell debut; suspect can improve a step second try out for barn.
Long Shot – 5 Celtic Charmer
Race 3 – 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 Royal Import – Has changed barns a lot of late; has never raced for this low a price tag, now or never for Jack Carava.
11 Certified Diamond – Logical chalk has been a consistent runner up north; part of the good string from Vann Belvoir.
Long Shot – 7 Stu’s Gone Wild
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Southern Sculptor – Been away since a forgetable try in the Illinois Derby; these maiden claimers are more like it.
1 Personalitary – Gave up last time without much of a tussle; key will be how Panther’s Claw runs in race 1 tonight.
Long Shot – 7 Spicey Beau
Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $37,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds
2 Luckarack – Gets big class relief from stakes for this $40K price tag; need not be much to get his photo taken.
8 Quintons Destiny – When Mike Mitchell slides them down in class, sometimes you get honey, other times vinegar.
Long Shot – 5 Gutshot Straight
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds
8 Blueskiesnrainbows – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to graduate.
7 Run Charlie Run – Ran a surprisingly good second last out; suspect he won’t be anywhere near 12/1 this afternoon.
Long Shot – 5 Buds Pal
Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Pleasing Sunrise – Inside posts are a help in Inglewood turf sprints; has been grinding lately without getting a win.
1 La Sombre – Speed and the rail, especially on this course, is a solid success recipe; catch this filly to win.
Long Shot – 9 Miss Sea Cup
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds
9 D’wildbunch – Been knocking on the door at this low class; suspect will bust it down and win, maybe today.
5 I Will Follow – Odd seeing Garrett Gomez riding in cheap maiden claimers; his vote is enough for me.
Long Shot – 7 War Wizard
Best Bet – 2 Ultimate Decision (race 2)
Hollywood Park Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/4/$26.40; Long Shots, 9/1/$12.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Park Totals – 198/59/$370.80; Long Shots, 98/11/$112.80; Best Bets, 12/5/$19.00
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #1 Equivocation (5/1) in race 3 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Coasting ran out at Aqueduct. Stats – 181/116/$926.20. Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
