New Year’s eve activities abound on west side of valley

Want to enjoy New Year’s Eve without the stress of going to the Strip? There are a number of options.

All events are for those 21 or older except for bowling events or unless otherwise noted.

The fourth annual TributePalooza is planned from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Fremont Street Experience, 425 Fremont St. The New Year’s Eve bash is set to feature bands Steel Panther and Rock Sugar, plus 10 tribute bands performing throughout the evening.

The celebration also includes a 2011 year-in-review retrospective on the Viva Vision screen, a midnight countdown led by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Fireworks by Grucci as part of the citywide celebration, America’s Party: Las Vegas New Year 2012. Additionally, the celebration will happen all weekend with free concerts by tribute bands on both Friday and Sunday .

InsertCoin(s) Videolounge Gamebar, 512 Fremont St., plans to host the Downtown Countdown 2012, the first New Year’s Eve block party in the Fremont East Entertainment District. The fun is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m., and entry is free. Expect drink specials and live music from Pride and the Vanities, Otherwise and Rhyme N Rhythm.

A party featuring DJ Slimm hosted by Robert “Twix” Taylor is planned beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Alexis Park Resort, 375 E. Harmon Ave. Admission is $40 in advance, $50 on the day of the event. For more information, visit alexispark.com or call 796-3322.

Station Casinos’ properties plan to welcome 2012 with live entertainment and drink specials . Tickets can be purchased on site at any Station Casinos Reward Center and the Fiestas, online at stationcasinos.com/concerts or through Ticketmaster by calling 745-3000.

Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, will let you ring in the New Year at Revolver with DJ Sinner. Doors are set to open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $40 the day of the event, plus tax and applicable fees. Two-for-one drink specials will be available from 8 to 10 p.m. For table or booth reservations, call 495-3333.

DJ Kram is set to spin from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 4949 Lounge with no cover.

Santa Fe Lanes plans to host a bowling night, the New Year’s Eve Cosmic Carnival, from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. It includes three hours of bowling, shoe rental, a large cheese or one -topping pizza, a 2-liter soda and party favors. At Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., Rocks Lounge plans to host the alternative rock sounds of Franky Perez beginning at 10:30 p.m.

DJ BKNY plans to bring in the New Year beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Lucky Bar with no cover.

At Onyx Bar, Toto Zara is scheduled to perform Latin dance and soul music from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with no cover. For more information, visit stationcasinos.com.

The Louie Anderson Theatre at Palace Station, 2411 W. Sahara Ave., plans to feature a video DJ playing hits spanning from the ’60s through the ’80s with no cover charge.

At Jack’s, ‘Nuff Said is scheduled to perform from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. with no cover.

At the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, Club Tequila plans to feature La Nueva Live Mix with La Nueva’s Oscar “El Coyote” Ruiz, along with DJ Lee and DJ Paco, mixing top Latin hits from 8 p.m. to midnight. The cover charge is $20 before 11 p.m.

Club Tequila takes over the partying with Latin Night with Noche Nortena featuring El Moreno Carrillo Y Su Banda Tierra Sagrada from midnight to 5:30 a.m. Cover is $25 at the door.

The Festival Buffet plans to feature John Earl & The Boogieman Band performing from 4 to 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve. Guests younger than 21 are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult.

At Cabo Lounge, John Earl & The Boogieman Band are set to perform from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Blue Agave plans to feature lounge music and top 40 hits, as JARR performs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, plans to host Jerry Tiffe and the sounds of swing at South Padre beginning at
1:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve Day. The cover charge is $10 at the door.

True-2-Crue plans to continue the party at South Padre with the sounds of rock beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, plus tax and applicable fees, and entry includes a champagne toast at midnight.

Over at A-Bar, Darrin Michaels is set to play jazz from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with no cover.

The sounds of Betsy Holm are planned from 7 to 11 p.m. at Garage Bar with no cover. Also, Sideshow plans to perform classic melodies and the latest hits inside Martini Lounge from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with no cover.

Not into the bar scene? Texas Star Lanes plans to host a Cosmic Bowling Party from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. New Year’s Eve. Get three hours of bowling, shoe rental, a large pizza with two toppings, a pitcher of soda or beer and glow necklaces. The cost is $80 per lane (maximum five people). The Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive, plans to rock the house starting at noon with Voices 3 in the Showroom. Tickets are $19.95, plus tax. The Vegas Super Band is slated to play from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., including a champagne toast and balloon drop. Tickets are $29.95, plus tax.

Cosmic bowling is planned featuring a disc jockey from 9 p.m. to midnight. To reserve lanes, call Joy Cox at 636-7400, ext. 5404, or Becky Herman at 636-7400, ext. 5407.

The Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, plans to feature disc jockeys spinning upscale hip-hop and R&B with Hot 97.5 resident disc jockeys Dre Dae and D-Money. Expect special guest appearances and performances. The night will be emceed by Mr. B.O.B. Doors are set to open at 10:30 p.m. The cover charge is $30.

The Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road, plans to host a New Year’s Eve celebration with Tyga and Bobby Valentino beginning at
10:30 p.m. Admission is $125.

Loews Lake Las Vegas plans live entertainment in the Arabesque Lounge and a fireworks display at midnight.
