Michigan fugitive arrested in Las Vegas

A fugitive task force arrested a 21-year-old man in Las Vegas this week who was featured on the TV show “America’s Most Wanted,” federal officials said Wednesday.

Anton Blevins was arrested Tuesday near Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending his extradition to Michigan.

Blevins is accused of being involved in a violent encounter outside a Detroit night club in which a Wayne State University football player, Courtney Cortez Smith, a cornerback, was fatally shot, federal officials said.

The task force that arrested Blevins is the Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team, also known as Nevada FIST.

The task force is led by U.S. Marshals and comprised of personnel with Las Vegas police, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Department of Corrections.
