Dining pick of the week: Golden Gate

Turkey is still popular in many homes, but for others it’s time to venture out for something other than pumpkin pie. And that means Chinese. There is nothing better after a week of turkey and stuffing than some hot and sour soup, chicken lettuce wraps and a plate of Shanghai lo mein. Other entrees at Golden Gate include General Tao’s chicken, crispy orange tofu, Mongolian beef, chicken or shrimp vegetable delight, egg foo yong, sesame beef, Singapore-style noodles (curly rice noodles with chicken and shrimp), lemon chicken and Kung Pao three flavors, where shrimp, chicken and beef are stir-fried with peanuts in spicy sauce. The house moo shu is shredded meat (pork, beef, chicken, shrimp) stir-fried with egg, cabbage, bamboo shoots and onions with Chinese pancakes and plum sauce. Other dishes are combination lo mein, chow fun, sweet and sour shrimp, curry beef, Szechwan pork, beef chop suey and moo goo gai pan. Several appetizers are fried wontons, shrimp tempura, barbecue spare ribs and chicken dumplings. Entrees begin at $6.99, and lunch specials start at $5.79. Golden Gate is open from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
