Heavyweight fighter Matt Mitrione (9-5) explains why he chose to leave the UFC for Bellator when his contract ended.

In January 2016, Mitrione became a free agent. In March he opted to sign with Bellator, a Viacom owned MMA promotion that airs on Spike TV. His first fight under their banner will take place at Bellator 157 on June 24 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mitrione, a former NFL defensive lineman, was a competitor on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. All of his 14 professional fights to date took place in the UFC.
