DINING: Pancakes for charity, cooking classes

Doing good while eating well: In honor of National Pancake Week, three local celebrities — former ‘N Sync member and ”The Price is Right” show host Joey Fatone, Flamingo headliner George Wallace and Rick Harrison of the History’s channel’s “Pawn Stars” — have designed their own pancakes, which will be available Sunday (Feb. 19) through Feb. 25 at the four Hash House A Go Go locations in the valley. At the end of the week, the pancake that sells the most will be declared the winner and $1 for each serving sold will be donated to the celebrity’s favorite charity. The pancakes? Fatone’s has Reese’s pieces and chopped bacon; Wallace’s is coated with strawberry Frosted Flakes with cinnamon and maple syrup and bacon on the side; and Harrison’s is chocolate and peanut butter. …
The February Cooking Fiesta at El Segundo Sol at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, begins at 10 a.m. Feb. 25. It will cover guacamole with serrano and pomegranate, salad of jicama and grapefruit, braised pork tacos, bunuellos with mango syrup, white sangria and margaritas with cilantro and cumin. Border Grill Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has scheduled a cooking class for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3. It will cover Michelada, Peruvian shrimp and grits, Yucatan Egg Benedict, short rib hash and egg and Churro Tots and is $75 per person. To register, call 632-7403.
