Cheyenne High student found with loaded gun on campus

A student at Cheyenne High School was found with a loaded gun on campus Thursday afternoon, Clark County School District police said.

The identity of the student was not released.

Lt. Ken Young said that between noon and 12:30 p.m., an officer at the North Las Vegas campus found the gun while he was searching the student in an unrelated matter.

Young said he was unsure how old the student was. The gun was confiscated and the case was turned over to the Clark County district attorney’s office.

The student was not arrested. Young would not elaborate why, but said the student might be arrested at a later time.
