Inmate who died at Clark County jail identified

An inmate who died at the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday was identified Monday as Farouk Hanga-Taylor, 31.

The man’s cellmate told Las Vegas police that Hanga-Taylor suffered a seizure about 1 p.m. He died later at University Medical Center.

Police said they were unaware the man had health problems.

According to jail records, Hanga-Taylor, who also uses the first name Muvaraq, was arrested in August after he struck and killed Gabriel Martinez-Sarmiento, 34, with his vehicle.

Police said Hanga-Taylor fled the scene but was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and hit-and-run charges.
