One killed, one injured in North Las Vegas shooting

One man was killed and another was injured Sunday night after a shooting in North Las Vegas.

Police received a call about a shooting in the 2600 block of Ward Street, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and June Avenue, about 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, no one was at the scene. About 20 minutes later, police were notified that two men had arrived at University Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

One victim, a 31-year-old Las Vegas man, died. The second victim, a 28-year-old Las Vegas man, was expected to recover. Police said the men were driven to UMC by a third person.

Police had little information about the shooting as of Monday morning.

This was the first homicide in North Las Vegas this year.
