UNLV volleyball splits matches in tourney

The UNLV volleyball team split its matches Saturday at the Nike Portland Invitational in Portland, Ore., sweeping Tennessee State 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 and losing to Portland, 25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-9.

In the opener against Tennessee State, Candice Thomas had 11 kills and eight blocks for UNLV (3-3), Allison Davies had 12 digs, and Kinsey Caldwell had 28 assists.

Against Portland, Stephanie Thelen had 15 kills and 10 digs, Davies totaled 14 digs, and Caldwell had 45 assists. Sekola Falemaka had 13 kills and 11 digs.
