Longtime gaming executive Dan Wade named president of the Tropicana

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

Longtime gaming industry executive Dan Wade has been named president and chief operating officer of the Tropicana Las Vegas. In a filing Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tropicana officials announced the hiring.

Wade, 60, had several positions with MGM Grand Corp. and MGM Mirage between 1999 and 2006, including vice chairman. The company is now known as MGM Resorts International.

Wade most recently served as the COO of the company that had been planning to build a version of New York’s Plaza Hotel on the site of the since demolished New Frontier.

According to the SEC filing, Wade has 37 years of experience in hospitality and gaming. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of table game provider Shuffle Master.

The position reunites Wade with former MGM Grand CEO Alex Yemenidjian, who serves as chairman, CEO and president of the partnership that owns the 1,375-room hotel-casino.
