MUSIC

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will present a concert with Jeanne and the Speakeasy Swingers at 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, although donations will be accepted (341-7800).

EVENTS

Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will have its 41st annual Lobster Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The fair will feature arts and crafts, food, drawings, face painting, a fish pond for kids, entertainment and other activities. Admission is free. The youth group of Green Valley Presbyterian Church will have a swapmeet and carwash from 7 a.m. to noon today at 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson (454-8484).

Desert Spring United Methodist Church’s women’s group will have a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 120 N. Pavilion Center Drive. The bazaar will feature handcrafted items, handmade jewelry, knitted and crocheted accessories, quilts, holiday decorations, baby clothes, preserves and jellies, among other items (256-5933).

First Henderson United Methodist Church, 609 E. Horizon Drive, will have a blessing of animals at 9 a.m. today in the church’s courtyard. Dogs, cats, lizards, rabbits, pigs, hamsters, fish, birds and other animals are allowed. There will be a special tribute to pets that have died (565-6049).

St. James the Apostle Catholic Church will have its annual Gospel Jazz Brunch and Silent Auction, featuring the Ink Spots, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive (648-6606).

First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., will have "A Christ Centered Family Event" and fall festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The event will feature dinner, a chili cook-off, carnival game booths and children’s activities. Dinner is $3 per person. Children can wear fun and friendly costumes (384-4554).

Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road, will have a King’s Faire from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. The kid-friendly event will feature games, bounce houses, food and candy. Children can wear costumes. Tickets are $3 per person. For the purchase of eight tickets, two tickets will be free. Tickets can be purchased at www.canyonridge.org.

First Henderson United Methodist Church, 609 E. Horizon Drive, is hosting a Pumpkin Patch fundraiser daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Oct. 31. The pumpkin patch features orange pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. On Oct. 27 and 28, a food event will feature kettle corn, churros, deep-fried Twinkies and Oreos, and shaved ice. The church’s women’s group will also be having a bake sale (565-6049).

Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., will have its annual Halloween "Trunk n Treat" event at 7 p.m. Oct. 27. The event is free (645-4998).

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada – Summerlin campus, 9001 Hillpointe Road, will have a kosher barbecue cook-off, a health and fitness fair, and activities for children and adults from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 28. The cook-off will feature 12 teams competing to determine who has the best brisket, beef ribs and beans. The event is open to the public. Congregation Ner Tamid, 55 N. Valle Verde, Henderson, will host MernaLyn, author of "The 10 Second Diet," at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29. MernaLyn will do a reading from her book and answer questions. The event is free (733-6292).

The Women’s Guild of St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. CLASSES
