First Look: He plays to win … back his family

What: "Playing for Keeps"

When: Opening Friday

Cast: Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Dennis Quaid

Director: Gabriele Muccino

The story: A down-on-his luck former soccer star (Butler) returns home to put his life back together and ends up coaching his young son’s team while trying to win back his ex-wife (Biel) in this romantic comedy.

The buzz: As this weekend’s only major release, "Playing for Keeps" definitely fills a void. But if you’re looking for a romantic comedy, odds are you’d be better served by watching Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence fall for each other in director David O. Russell’s "Silver Linings Playbook."
