Redfoo says Marquee partyers should be ready for champagne showers

You can thank the sport of soccer for making the shuffle-dance craze happen a few years ago.

Redfoo and his nephew SkyBlu popularized shuffling in their LMFAO video for “Party Rock Anthem (Everyday I’m Shufflin).”

And Redfoo tells me shuffling was born of his love of soccer as a kid.

“That was the first sport that I played. And you’ve got all that footwork,” he says. “Soccer players are really shuffling with the ball.

“It has the Charleston (dance steps). It has some soccer involved. It’s incredible. It’s footwork.”

You’ll see shuffling Monday night (and Dec. 17) at club Marquee when Redfoo returns for his colorful and loose-clothes “Party Rock” DJ gigs.

Marquee will also see a rain of Redfoo champagne spraying.

“Every DJ set, I think we have 20 bottles on the (contract) rider that we spray. So I personally spray probably four bottles a day,” Redfoo says. “And I only drink a couple sips.”

He says you too can spray champagne to get attention. Here’s his advice:

“It’s better to buy a bottle and spray it. You get more attention from the girls, and from everybody.”

That’s how Redfoo started spraying champagne before he was famous. He would spray women. At first, they would say, “What the hell?” But then they loved it.

What’s funny, he says, is he initially had to talk Marquee execs into letting him spray.

A few years ago at a pool party, Jason Strauss (of Marquee’s parent company) didn’t want Redfoo to shake up bottles. But then a fun song came on, and Redfoo couldn’t stop himself.

“I’m not the type that does it just because they tell me don’t,” Redfoo says. “But I had to show them. … So we sprayed and stuff.”

Strauss quickly understood the power of champagne showers.

“The next 20 minutes, I see him (Strauss) order three bottles, and now he’s walking around … spraying champagne. I converted him.”

And Redfoo says everyone else needs to arrive at Marquee loose and ready for fun.

“There’s no room for attitude at the party.”
