English Beat back in Vegas

The last time The English Beat was in town, frontman Dave Wakeling took a water bottle to the grill, hurled at him from a crowd member during the Punk Rock Bowling festivities in May.

Wakeling carried on, undaunted, after a few choice words for the individual who attempted to cave in his nasal cavity.

But, then again, Wakeling and Co. are nothing if not survivors.

The venerable British troupe has been leading the 2 Tone ska revival since the late ’70s, merging reggae and punk while preaching peace and unity.

Except, that is, when flying projectiles are involved.
