Pattern Energy Group’s Spring Valley Wind project in Ely won Wind Project of the Year at a big industry conference.
Spring Valley earned the honor at Power-Gen International, a power-sector confab being held this week in Orlando, Fla. The 152-megawatt, 66-turbine wind farm is the first wind-fueled power plant on U.S. public lands, and the first in Nevada.
The plant generates enough electricity to power 45,000 homes. It has 13 full-time employees working on operations and maintenance. The project also is expected to create more than $20 million in tax revenue for White Pine County and Nevada’s Renewable Energy Fund over the next 20 years.
Local power utility NV Energy has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Spring Valley.
