VFW post needs gifts for more than 100 families

Santa Claus has a tall order to fill this year at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post near Nellis Air Force Base and the post commander wants the community’s help in adopting military families that need provisions for the holidays.

Currently there are more than 100 military families waiting to be adopted.

“Come down to the post and pick a military family’s name off our tree. Our veterans and military families need so much, but together we can give them the help they deserve,” post commander Jon Fennych said in a news release Friday.

The families need gifts for children and food for a holiday feast.

To participate in the Adopt a Military Family project, visit VFW Post 10047 near the Nellis base at 4337 N. Las Vegas Blvd., or send an email to adoptamilitaryfamily@hotmail.com.

All gifts must be dropped off at the post by Monday.
