One dead, another injured in head-on crash on U.S. 95

One person died and another was in critical condition after two cars collided head-on on U.S. Highway 95 near Auto Show Drive about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, witnesses saw a black Fiat northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 95 near Wagon Wheel Drive and attempted to signal the driver to turn around, but could not get the driver’s attention.

The driver continued to travel north for approximately seven miles until he struck a blue Mazda near Auto Show Drive.

The driver of the Fiat was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mazda was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.

All southbound lanes on U.S. 95 were reopened to traffic just after 7 a.m.
