CSN baseball team records 40-win season in 2013

The College of Southern Nevada baseball team recently finished up its 2013 season, falling to in-state rival Western Nevada College in the Region 18 Baseball Championship. The Coyotes finished its season with a 40-17 record, the first 40-win season for CSN since 2010.

Highlighting its season, the Coyote baseball team won the Scenic West Athletic Conference championship with a regular-season conference record of 26-10, finishing a full three games ahead of both Western Nevada College and Salt Lake Community College.

“I could not be more proud of this team” said CSN Coach Nick Garritano. “We faced the tough hurdle of competing with 10 fewer scholarships than any of our competition and stayed ranked in the top 10 nationally throughout the entire season.”

CSN finished the season with a No. 6 ranking in the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Top 20 National Baseball Poll. Earlier in the season, CSN was ranked as low as No. 8 and as high as No. 4.

On April 20, Garritano earned his 100th victory at CSN when the Coyotes defeated the College of Southern Idaho on the road.

The CSN softball team rode a 10-game winning streak right into the postseason to finish the 2013 season on a high note, but the ladies were eliminated in the Region 18 Softball Tournament.
