UNLV’s Davis, Yunker named players of the week in Mountain West

UNLV wide receiver Devante Davis and punter Logan Yunker were named Mountain West players of week.

Davis was named offensive player of the week, with a career-high 10 catches for 164 yards and three touchdowns to help UNLV beat New Mexico, 56-42. Davis is second in the nation with eight receiving touchdowns.

Yunker was named special teams player of the week for the second time this season. He averaged 51.7 yards per punt against New Mexico and is ranks seventh in the nation at 46.4 yards per kick.

The last time UNLV had two players of the week was October 2011.

Davis and running back Tim Cornett earned honorable mention for the weekly Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for offensive players with Texas ties. Cornett rushed for a career-high 179 yards and three touchdowns against New Mexico.

UNLV, 3-2 after three straight wins, is off this week and hosts Hawaii on Oct. 12.
