School district names new spokesperson
The reshuffling of Clark County School District’s leaders continues as new Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky makes changes for his first school year at the helm.
In addition to a new deputy superintendent and four new chief positions announced last week, Skorkowsky announced Tuesday that his chief of staff, Kirsten Searer, will also serve as head spokesperson leading the communications office of the nation’s fifth-largest school district.
The former Chief of Communications Amanda Fulkerson, who was earning $136,000 in salary, recently resigned.
Searer will assume Fulkerson’s salary but won’t be replaced in her former role as chief of staff, saving the district $120,000. Searer joined the district in 2011 and was previously director of public relations and communications for the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Searer also served as a communications director for the Barack Obama presidential campaign in 2008 and began working in Las Vegas in 2004 as a reporter for the Las Vegas Sun.
“Our focus will be to serve the needs of every one of our students, and to have a back-and-forth exchange with our employees, parents and community,” Searer said.
