High wind watch issued for Las Vegas Valley

A high wind watch was issued with expected wind gusts up to 80 mph around Las Vegas Sunday night by the National Weather Service.

The southwest winds were from a Pacific storm sweeping into the Great Basin.

The Spring Mountains and Red Rock National Conservation Area had the strongest winds forecast, with sustained winds of 40 to 60 mph and gusts up to 80 mph.

The west side of the Las Vegas Valley were forecast to have sustained winds of 30 to 50 mph and gusts up to 65 mph.

Gusts up to 50 mph were expected for the majority of the rest of the valley, according to the weather service.
