Man dies in single-car wreck

One man died Monday morning following a single-car crash on Sandhill Road.

Around 8:15 a.m., Las Vegas police responded to reports of an accident on Sandhill Road near Desert Inn Road.

According to evidence and a witness statement, a Toyota Camry on Sandhill ran a red traffic light at Desert Inn and struck the median across the intersection. It then crossed over the oncoming traffic lanes and hit a large decorative boulder in a parking lot, police said.

The driver, an 87-year-old man, was transported to Desert Springs Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said a medical incidient may have led to the crash.

This accident is still being investigated.
