Firefighters had to extract passengers who were trapped in a vehicle near Summerlin after a head-on collision Saturday evening.

The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Washington Avenue. An SUV and sedan collided, leaving at least two people trapped in a vehicle and several others injured.

The exact number of people who were transported was unknown, but Las Vegas police spokesman Tom Melton said at least two were taken to University Medical Center.
