Richy tosses three-hitter in Rebels’ 2-1 win at San Jose State

John Richy pitched a three-hitter to lead UNLV to a 2-1 Mountain West baseball victory over host San Jose State on Saturday.

The junior right-hander allowed one unearned run, struck out six and walked three in his 103-pitch outing.

Richy (4-0) pitched out of trouble in the ninth inning to register the second complete game of his UNLV career. San Jose State (5-15, 2-5 MW) had the bases loaded with two out, but Richy got a strikeout on three pitches to end the game.

The Rebels (13-4, 7-1) scored the decisive run in the sixth on Patrick Armstrong’s sacrifice fly that plated Justin Jones, who had singled. Their other run came in the fourth on Morgan Stotts’ single that scored T.J. White.

White went 3-for-4 and is 6-for-9 in the first two games of the series. Jones was 2-for-4.
