The Metropolitan Police Department’s abuse and neglect unit is investigating the death of a 6-month-old baby in Las Vegas on Thursday, which appears to be accidental, police said Thursday.

Las Vegas police Lt. John Liberty said officers responded to the 3800 block of Mountain Vista St. at 12:47 p.m. and performed CPR on the baby before it was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where it was pronounced dead.

Liberty did not know the gender of the baby.

The apartment complex is located in the vicinity of Boulder Highway and Desert Inn Road, Liberty said.
