Las Vegas police name officer who killed man near Jean Airport

The Las Vegas SWAT officer who shot and killed a man near the Jean Airport on Sunday has been named.

Officer Charles Moser, who has been with the Metropolitan Police Department since 2000, responded to a sky diving company’s 911 call that a man in an RV pointed a gun at employees.

Police said the man in the RV pointed a gun at officers at the scene and forced them to retreat. A SWAT team arrived and as they set up a perimeter, the man walked out of the RV with the gun, police said. Moser shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Clark County coroner’s office has not identified the man who died.

Moser was put on routine paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

This is Metro’s fourth officer-involved shooting this year.
