Preregistration begins for Clark County election candidates

Preregistration for anyone that wants to run for local office in Clark County this year began Saturday.

“Preregistering saves time for the candidates and Election Department staff,” said Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria.

The preregistration period for local, non-judicial candidates continues until March 14.

Gloria said the county’s election website at clarkcountynv.gov/vote can be used to check voter registration status. Candidates can file most of their paperwork on the website, which will save a lot of time at the election department office.

All candidates will still be required to appear at an election department office starting March 3 to show identification, sign forms and pay fees.

Candidates for statewide offices must file with the secretary of state’s office. The filing period for state and local judicial candidates ended Friday.

The 2014 primary election is June 10, and the general election is Nov. 4.
