World Series of Beer Pong back in town

Sure, we may be losing the National Finals Rodeo, but it’s not as though its departure would leave Las Vegas devoid of high-profile championships.

After all, we still have the World Series of Beer Pong.

More than a thousand of the best beer-pongers from across the U.S. and more than a dozen countries will descend upon the Flamingo Las Vegas, 3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Thursday through Saturday for the ninth annual tournament.

It’s too late to qualify to participate through satellite tournaments, but you can still watch these magnificent athletes in action.

Tickets are $20 per day, $35 for a two-day pass and $50 for a three-day pass.

For more information, see www.bpong.com.

Hawaiian Reggae

The good vibes of Hawaiian reggae troupe The Green are so suggestive of sunshine and the beach that you’ll be shaking sand from your BVDs after the band performs at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Hard Rock Live, 3771 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $22 in advance, $26 day of show; call 733-7625.

Meet the Artist

If you’ve ever attended an art show and wanted to ask the artist, “What were you thinking?” — now’s your chance, as downtown’s Contemporary Arts Center welcomes Las Vegas-based Nathan Cote at 7 p.m. Thursday for an artist talk, during the opening reception for his “Cannibals, Survivalists and the Plus Ultra Habitat” at CAC, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 120. For more details, click on www.lasvegascac.org.

Bellinis Two Ways

The Bellini Brunch, which has been offered on Sundays at the Seasons Buffet at the Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, now is available on Saturdays as well. The brunch, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, is $19.99 per person.
