Nevadans stuck in Arizona desert for 3 days

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Arizona authorities assisted two Nevada residents who were stranded three days in a remote area of southern Mohave County as they attempted to free their pickup truck after it got stuck in a wash.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Trish Carter said the couple from Las Vegas used a cellphone to contact authorities in neighboring La Paz County.

The crew of a state Department of Public Safety helicopter responded, spotted the stuck vehicle and directed search and rescue personnel to the site near Alamo Lake.

Carter said the ground personnel freed the vehicle and the couple went on their way. They were identified as 78-year-old Voytek Najgrodski and 69-year-old Eva Skronska.

They were said to be in good health, and Carter said they likely had water and other supplies.
